Counseling Grants Program

Funder: Change The Conversation Inc (No More Stolen Childhoods - NMSC)

Geographic Scope: Maryland (currently serving 5 Maryland counties with growing expansion planned)

Focus Areas: Mental health treatment and counseling for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse

Target Population: Adults who experienced childhood sexual abuse and are seeking professional counseling

Program Description:
The Counseling Grants Program launched in 2019 to support adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse on their path to healing. The program acknowledges the generational impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and recognizes that healing is most effective when survivors receive care in a safe, therapeutic setting with professionally trained providers.

Award Details:

  • Each grant provides up to $2,000 of treatment costs per individual

  • As of the 2020 report, NMSC had awarded grants to 14 people and facilitated over 120 therapy sessions

  • A growing waitlist exists for interested individuals
  • Eligibility:

  • Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse

  • Individuals for whom finances are the main barrier to mental health services

  • Access to trauma-informed counseling professionals who specialize in treatment for complex trauma

    Application Process

    Applicants (Mental Health Professionals/Clinicians):

    2. Review partnership requirements and counseling grant program guidelines
    3. Complete required documentation (see materials below)
    4. Establish Memorandum of Understanding with the organization
    5. Submit client and organizational information as needed
