Corridors Commission It shall be the purpose of the Corridors Commission to assess the major roads of Lexington Fayette County, especially the major and minor arterials, regarding but not limited to aesthetic qualities, viewsheds, landscaping, fencing, signage, litter control, bike and pedestrian considerations and other elements the Commission may deem appropriate. Corridors Neighborhood Enhancement Match Grant Program The program aims to partner with neighborhoods and other community-based groups to enhance the corridors that connect Lexington communities and increase awareness of corridor enhancements. Applications should include activities open to the public and benefit the whole corridor. There are 31 eligible corridors. Objectives To partner with neighborhood and other community-based groups to enhance Fayette County’s corridors.To increase awareness of corridor enhancements.To allow the Corridors Commission to advance its mission and purpose in a more timely and productive manner.Eligibility

Match RequirementThe Corridors Neighborhood Enhancement Match Grant Program is a 2:1 matching grant.For every $1.00 of the Corridors Neighborhood Enhancement Match Grant requested, the applicant must provide an additional $0.50 match.Eligible OrganizationsIncorporated, active neighborhood or homeowners associations.Federally recognized non-profit organizations 501(c)(3).Organizations are not required to be a 501(c)(3) but must be a charitable or non profit organization and be active and in good standing with the Kentucky Secretary of State.Eligible ActivitiesActivities must occur in an area that abuts a corridor or is on a corridor. The applicant is responsible for all ongoing maintenance. The improvements must be open and available to the public and must benefit the whole corridor.Physical improvements for public or community property (other than those listed as ineligible).Planting of street trees or landscaping (not in private yards)Sidewalk or bike lane repairRepair or installation of fencingStreet furniture such as benchesEducational, historical significance, neighborhood entrance or way finding signage/bannersMaintenance or installation of public artOther improvement projectsActivities necessary to plan, promote, or finance voluntary general cleanup and neighborhood improvement efforts.Street or alley cleanup programsRemoval of abandoned vehiclesDemolition of abandoned buildingsActivities to enhance the beauty of corridors by the removal of dead or diseased trees.Litter awareness, prevention and cleanup activities.
