Conservation Practitioner Award Grant

The Conservation Practitioner Award, presented by the American Ornithological Society, recognizes dedicated professionals at any career stage who address avian conservation issues at local or regional levels. This award includes a certificate and a $1,000 honorarium, acknowledging the critical work of individuals or groups in government or non-government organizations. The AOS aims to promote ethical standards and support a diverse community of ornithologists committed to bird conservation.

Conservation Awards
The American Ornithological Society (AOS) Conservation Committee bestows two annual awards, the Ralph W. Schreiber Conservation Award and the Conservation Practitioner Award, that recognize ornithologists who are dedicated to the conservation of migratory and resident birds throughout their full annual life cycle.
The Committee strives to develop a balanced annual slate of nominees that represents the diversity of individuals not only within the Society’s membership but throughout the field of ornithology.
This award acknowledges the planning, on-the-ground, or day-to-day work of dedicated professionals addressing avian conservation issues at a local or regional scale. The award consists of a certificate and $1,000 honorarium. The awardee is selected annually by the AOS Conservation Award Committee. All award nominees are expected to have a high standard of ethical and social behavior that is strongly aligned with the AOS Code of Conduct & Ethics.

Eligibility

The AOS Conservation Practitioner Award, new in 2023, recognizes: a biologist at any stage of their career, or group of biologists for outstanding work in government agencies (from municipal, state, provincial, federal, or international levels) ornon-government organizations to further the conservation of birds.
