Overview

Established in 2021 in partnership with Coastal Carolina University (CCU), this scholarship supports students pursuing careers in the golf industry through CCU's PGA Golf Management program. The scholarship covers full tuition and academic fees for all four years of undergraduate study.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be: Entering Coastal Carolina University as a full-time, first-year freshman
  • Program: Enrolled in CCU's PGA Golf Management program
  • Prior Experience: Must have participated in Congaree Foundation programming (including but not limited to Congaree Global Golf Initiative)
  • Residency: Must be a South Carolina resident

    Award Details

  • Amount: Covers all tuition and academic fees through four years of full-time enrollment
  • Additional Support: Established endowment (via founder Mike Pruitt) provides additional financial support for housing, meals, and non-academic fees
  • Number of Awards: Awarded annually to up to one (1) student

  • Begins with 2022-23 academic year
  • Congaree Foundation provides qualified candidate list to CCU each spring
  • CCU selects final recipient for upcoming fall semester

Mission Context

Congaree Foundation's mission is to positively impact the lives of young people locally and around the globe through the game of golf. The PGA Golf Management program prepares students for careers as club or teaching professionals, golf association administrators, equipment manufacturers representatives, trade publication roles, and other positions in the golf industry.

  • First recipient: Jones Saylor (Class of 2022 CGGI graduate), announced August 2023

How to Apply

Application Process

Candidate Selection Process:
1. Congaree Foundation maintains relationships with eligible candidates through prior programming participation (especially CGGI)
2. Congaree Foundation compiles a list of qualified candidates each spring
3. Coastal Carolina University reviews the candidate list provided by Congaree Foundation
4. CCU selects the final scholarship recipient from the Congaree Foundation candidate list
5. Recipient is announced for upcoming fall semester enrollment

Eligibility Verification:
Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Full-time, first-year status at CCU

  • Enrollment in PGA Golf Management program

  • Prior participation in Congaree Foundation programming

  • South Carolina residency
