Conference Scholarship Fund

We Can Do Better creates an annual scholarship fund to ensure that no one is excluded from attending their annual conference due to cost barriers.

Geographic Scope: Oregon (based in Eugene, OR; conferences held in Portland)

Focus Areas: Healthcare and health policy reform; brings together individuals interested in improving health care and health

Eligibility: Anyone who wants to attend the We Can Do Better Conference

What They Fund:

• Full and partial scholarships for conference registration
• Reduced price conference registrations
• No-cost conference registrations

Program Status: Active annual program. Recent conference: January 17, 2019 at Portland Art Museum (10th Annual)

Background: The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on bringing people together to improve health care and health. In the first year of using this scholarship approach, close to 90 people attended with scholarship support. The organization believes in grassroots sponsorship and has created individual sponsorship options starting at $50 to support the scholarship fund.

How to Apply

For Scholarship Recipients:

1. Visit the Conference Scholarship Registration page
2. Complete conference registration
3. Pay what you can to help offset conference costs
4. If $25 is a barrier, contact Amy at the organization to discuss further scholarship options

For Conference Sponsors (to support the scholarship fund):

1. Make a contribution to the scholarship fund
2. Individual sponsorship options start at $50
3. Sponsors are listed in conference materials
4. Sponsor names are entered into a drawing for free conference registration and evening reception
