Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarship

Overview: Community Action of Southern Kentucky accepts applications each spring for annual CSBG Scholarships. There are $1,000 scholarships available, with one awarded in each of the ten counties served.

Purpose: The CSBG Scholarship helps provide training or retraining required for the local job market. It is designed for income-eligible individuals wanting to return to school or continue their education.

Eligible Uses: Scholarship benefits can be applied to:

  • Fees and tuition

  • Textbooks

  • Attendance at college/university, vocational/technical school, or trade/professional programs
  • Geographic Scope: Barren River Area Development District counties:

  • Allen

  • Barren

  • Butler

  • Edmonson

  • Hart

  • Logan

  • Metcalfe

  • Monroe

  • Simpson

  • Warren
    • Eligibility Requirements

    • Must live in one of the ten counties in the Barren River Area Development District
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Must show proof of household income within federal poverty guidelines
    • Must complete the application form

    5. Educational Scholarship Fact Sheet (completed)
    6. Letter of recommendation (to be completed by Guidance Counselor or Youth Service Center Coordinator)
