Community Scholarships

Geographic Scope: Nantucket, Massachusetts

Overview: The Community Foundation for Nantucket administers multiple named scholarship funds for Nantucket residents and Nantucket High School graduates pursuing higher education.

Individual Scholarships Include:

    Gary & Glen DaSilva Scholarship

  • Award: $1,500
  • Eligibility: Graduating senior from Nantucket High School who has been a member of the golf team OR graduating senior attending a certified trade school

    Geronimo's Scholarship

  • Award: $1,000
  • Focus: Animal-related field studies or training
  • Eligibility: Students or community members

    Jack Pignato Memorial Scholarship

  • Award: $1,500
  • Focus: Math or science fields
  • Eligibility: Nantucket High School graduates

    Jeanette T. Garneau Scholarship

  • Award: $1,500 for 4 years
  • Focus: Community service and civic awareness
  • Eligibility: Nantucket High School seniors

    June Bartlett Scholarship

  • Award: $500 per student
  • Focus: Agricultural sciences
  • Eligibility: Graduating seniors or former graduates of Nantucket High School

    Magical Chicken Scholarship

  • Award: $1,000
  • Focus: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Eligibility: Students demonstrating interest in technology fields

    Nantucket Culinary Arts Scholarship

  • Award: $500
  • Focus: Culinary arts
  • Eligibility: Students demonstrating excellence in culinary arts

    Pat Martin Scholarship Fund

  • Award: $1,000
  • Focus: Community service and civic affairs
  • Eligibility: Graduating senior or past graduate of Nantucket High School

    William H. Brown Scholarship

  • Award: $5,000 per year for 4 years (2 scholarships annually)
  • Focus: Students with creativity, moral integrity, curiosity, and desire to contribute to the greater world
  • Eligibility: Nantucket resident graduating seniors attending accredited 4-year colleges/universities
  • GPA Requirement: 3.0 or higher to maintain scholarship
  • Selection Criteria: Personal essay and areas of study indication
  • Note: Not awarded solely on financial need but may consider financial circumstances

Total 2015 Awards: $46,500 to 19 deserving students
