Community Project Grants - Major Grants

Overview: New Hampshire Humanities Community Project Grants provide grant funds to support public humanities programs across New Hampshire. Major Grants provide up to $10,000 in funds.

Geographic Scope: New Hampshire

Focus Areas: Public humanities programs in disciplines including:

  • History

  • Literature

  • Philosophy

  • Ethics

  • Archeology

  • Anthropology

  • Linguistics

  • Geography

  • Law or legal theory

  • Classics

  • Cultural or religious studies
  • Program Purpose: Public humanities programs offer people the opportunity to interpret, question, and debate new ideas while learning about the world in which we live. Through such programs, the public humanities strengthen civic discourse and foster an informed citizenry.

    Eligibility: Eligible non-profits and tax-exempt organizations, including:

  • Cultural and civic organizations

  • Museums

  • Colleges

  • Libraries

  • Historical societies

  • Theaters

  • Other nonprofits around the state
  • Application Requirements: Organizations must submit a draft proposal at least one month before the final application deadline.

    Upcoming Deadlines:

  • Draft Proposal: September 15, 2026 / Final Application: October 15, 2026

  • Draft Proposal: December 15, 2026 / Final Application: January 15, 2027
  • Note: If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, submit by the next business day.

    2. Pre-Application Consultation: Contact New Hampshire Humanities with questions about your proposal
