Overview

Fact (page-stated): Community Closet accepts funding applications from individual residents of Park County, Montana — or from others applying on their behalf — for assistance with catastrophic incidences. If funding is provided it usually goes directly to the provider of services, not to the individual. Fact: the program explicitly cannot fund past-due bills (such as rent, water and power), deposits for housing or utilities, or any application from an individual requiring immediate assistance. Examples of past funding for individuals and families: gas cards so a family could take a child to an out-of-town hospital; orthotic inserts so a waitress could stay on her feet and keep her job; and travel and conference expenses so family caregivers could learn to care for a child with disabilities. Fact: past grants have ranged from $50 to $5,000 with an average of $1,000, and the Board may also grant funds to activities, organizations or individuals it deems in the community's interest.

How to Apply

Read the Funding Guidelines, then complete the online Individual/Family Funding Application or email a printable version to grants@communitycloset.org. The application asks for the number and ages of people in the household needing funds, the financial situation, how much is needed and why, and a reference (such as a physician or social worker) who can verify the need. Determinations are made quarterly by the Board; deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 30. Questions: Ashley at 222-6200.
