Community Action Fund

Overview: The Community Action Fund (CAF) provides modest, urgent response funding to direct action and frontline organizing across Turtle Island (North America) and related Island Nations.

Geographic Scope: United States, Mexico, Canada, Borikén/Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Focus Areas:

  • Community organizing

  • Amplification of community voices

  • Climate justice and racial equity efforts

  • Challenging the extractive industry

  • Accelerating the just energy transition in Indigenous communities

  • Healing justice work within the movement

  • Training the next generation of community organizers

  • Defense, development, and decolonization of Indigenous peoples and the planet
  • Eligibility:

  • Frontline, grassroots and community-based efforts

  • Groups and individuals most impacted by local challenges

  • Indigenous activists and organizers
  • Funding Amount: $500,000 available in 2023, with grants averaging $15,000 and ranging up to $30,000.
