Colonel Steven L. dePyssler Mission Support Scholarship Grant

The Colonel Steven L. dePyssler Mission Support Scholarship honors the legacy of Colonel Steven L. dePyssler, providing financial support to students who are dependents of active duty personnel at Barksdale Air Force Base. Managed by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, this scholarship exemplifies the foundation's commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the region through philanthropy and educational support.

Established in 1961, the Foundation oversees more than $200 million in assets for the benefit of North Louisiana. The funds managed by the Foundation are invested for the community’s benefit and then are returned to the community in the form of grants to a wide variety of charitable endeavors. Since inception, the Community Foundation has granted over $150 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.
Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to philanthropic grantmaking, Community Foundation of North Louisiana also offers a number of student scholarships. The following CFNLA scholarships have been made possible by generous donors. Each scholarship has different requirements.
Colonel Steven L. dePyssler Mission Support Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was created in honor of Colonel Steven L. dePyssler and provides scholarships for students who are dependents of active duty men or women at Barksdale Air Force Base. Colonel dePyssler retired from the United States Air Force in 1979 after 38 years of active duty, including serving in World War II, the Korean War, the French-Indo China War, and Vietnam.
