Coach Wally and Irma Hood Scholarship

Purpose: Provide essential support for a football player in good academic standing each year in perpetuity.

Background:

  • Named after Coach Wally Hood, head football coach at Fairmont State from 1984-1991

  • Under Coach Hood's leadership, the Falcons achieved a 42-35-4 overall record

  • Notable achievements: 1988 WVIAC Championship, NAIA National Playoffs appearance

  • 32 student-athletes earned first team All-Conference honors

  • 20 were All-American selections

  • 13 players were Academic All-Americans

  • Established by past players, friends, and family of Coach Hood

    • Eligibility:

  • Fairmont State University football player

  • Must maintain good academic standing

    • Geographic Scope: Fairmont State University, West Virginia, US
