Clinical Practice Award

Overview: Recognizes an exemplary nurse who provides evidence of a high level of skill in patient care through improving clinical practice and patient-centered outcomes.

Geographic Scope: Illinois

Eligibility:

  • Must be: A registered nurse licensed in the state of Illinois

  • Must be: Currently providing patient care in any specialty

  • Must have: At least five years of experience

  • Must demonstrate: Evidence-based ability to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based practice changes and/or quality improvement initiatives to promote improved patient outcomes

    • Focus Areas:

  • Evidence-based practice changes

  • Quality improvement initiatives

  • Clinical skill and expertise

  • Patient-centered outcomes improvement

    • Award Status: Inaugural award presented in 2020; ongoing annual award

    Example: 2020 winner Dr. Colleen Morley, DNP RN CCM CMAC CMCN ACM-RN, Director of Case Management at West Suburban Medical Center, recognized for creating an interdisciplinary Health Confidence Lab for patients with chronic conditions (COPD/CHF)

  • Nominees are submitted by others

  • Nomination statement must provide evidence of nominee's qualifications

  • Must demonstrate evidence-based practice changes and/or quality improvement initiatives

  • Must show impact on patient outcomes

  • Description of evidence-based practice changes designed and implemented

  • Documentation of quality improvement initiatives

  • Evidence of patient outcome improvements

  • Specific examples demonstrating clinical excellence

  • Details of leadership and innovation in clinical practice
