The Class of 1971 Scholarship was established in 2021 as the world was emerging from COVID isolation and as the class was preparing for its 50th Reunion. The scholarship was inspired by friendships created five decades ago.
- Initial endowment (2021): $100,000+ (established by Richard Sachs with other class members)
- 2024 Challenge Campaign: Howard Stein issued a $71,000 matching challenge to classmates: - Stein's gift: $71,000 - Class pledges/gifts: $88,885 (32% of class participation, exceeding 25% goal) - Peddie School matching transfer: $71,000 - Total new funding added (2024): $230,885 - Current endowment total: Over $330,885
