Overview

CHEST/ALA Guideline Implementation Research Grant for COPD Management CHEST, in partnership with ALA, invites applications for implementation research focused on COPD. Of specific interest are evidence-based interventions (eg, identifying barriers/facilitators, smoking cessation, digital health tools, methods for reduced exposure to triggers) in those with COPD. Studies that aim to evaluate equitable implementation of interventions focused on addressing health disparities in underrepresented communities—with consideration of exposures such as allergens, pollutants, smoking/vaping, environmental smoke such as wildfires, and other irritants that contribute to respiratory disease—are especially encouraged. Grant Amount: $120,000 two-year grant (second year contingent on progress in year one) This grant is jointly supported by CHEST and the American Lung Association (ALA).

Eligibility

Applicants at all career stages may apply, with special consideration given to young investigators and applicants in early stages of their career (completed training within the past seven years). Teams are encouraged to apply but must have a representative to serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) who will apply as an individual, be responsible for the award, and receive recognition, if awarded. Investigators at not-for-profit organizations and institutions are eligible to apply.

Ineligibility

The following individuals are not eligible to apply for CHEST-supported grants: Active CHEST and ALA grantees, including those with active no cost extension (NCE) requests Members of the CHEST Board of Regents or Board of Advisors, as well as their family members.
