Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award Grant

The Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award honors psychologists with outstanding teaching records. Awardees receive a plaque, a $2,000 monetary prize, and a $1,000 travel stipend, along with the opportunity to present at the APA Annual Convention. This prestigious award encourages nominations from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing achievements in teaching, curriculum development, and research in psychology education. Note that self-nominations are not permitted, and international applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria.

This award recognizes a significant career of contributions of a
psychologist who has a proven track record as an exceptional teacher of
psychology. The awardee receives a plaque, a $2,000 award, and a $1,000 travel stipend. Awardees are also invited to give a special address at the APA Annual Convention.

Eligibility

APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.Nominees should demonstrate and will be rated on the following dimensions:demonstrated achievement related to the teaching of psychologyexemplary performance as a classroom teacherdevelopment of innovative curricula and coursesdevelopment of effective teaching methods and/or materialsteaching of advanced research methods and practice in psychologyadministrative facilitation of teachingresearch on teachingtraining of teachers of psychologyevidence of influence as a teacher of students who become psychologistsInternational applicants from countries that have diplomatic relations with the United States and who meet the other eligibility requirements may apply for APF funding.To receive APF funds, recipients must be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.
