Overview: Annual awards presented by the Headliners Foundation of Texas to recognize the best print, digital, and broadcast journalists in Texas. Named after Charles E. Green, former publisher of the Austin American-Statesman and founding member of the Headliners Club.

Program Details

Total Annual Funding: $33,000 annually to Texas' best journalists

Partnerships:

Texas Managing Editors (TME) - Print awards

Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) - Broadcast awards

Selection Process:

Division-level winners from TME and TAB contests compete in head-to-head competition

One winner chosen in each of six categories

Small, medium, and large markets compete separately

Judges are recognized experts from across the nation in news media, academia, journalism, and journalism education

Eligibility

• Writers, investigators, broadcasters, and photojournalists
• Must be chosen "Best in Show" in statewide contests hosted by TME and TAB
• Texas-based news providers

Awards

• Green Award winners: $1,000 cash prize each
• Division winners: $500 cash prize each
• Charles E. Green trophy: Prestigious award presented to all winners
