Central Montana Foundation: Minor Grants ( Grant Requests Under $5,000)

The Central Montana Foundation offers minor grants for requests under $5,000 to support charitable initiatives in Central Montana. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations in good standing with the Montana Secretary of State, focusing on healthcare, education, and essential services. Applications are due by the 10th of each month for consideration at the monthly board meeting.

In 1983, a group of businessmen held an organizational meeting with the purpose of creating a foundation that would serve as a "clearinghouse" to grant funds to improve the quality of life in Central Montana. The Central Montana Foundation (CMF) was officially founded in May 1984 and is the oldest community foundation in Montana.
CMF supports healthcare, essential services, educational, civic, cultural and recreational projects in Central Montana and millions of grant funds have been awarded since its founding - all thanks to the generosity of its donors.
CMF typically grants hundreds of thousands annually from its unrestricted funds to a variety of projects in Central Montana.

Eligibility

Only non-profit or or tax-exempt organizations that are registered and in good standing with the Montana Secretary of State and located in Fergus, Garfield, Judith Basin, Petroleum and Wheatland Counties are eligible for Central Montana Foundation grants. Projects that will benefit educational, medical, essential services, civic and cultural projects are eligible and priority is given to projects that will benefit the most Central Montanans.

Ineligibility

CMF does NOT grant funds to individuals, political or religious organizations, or to organizations whose primary purpose it to influence legislation, to participate in or intervene in any political campaigns on behalf of any, or against any, candidate for office. Requests that are discriminatory, illegal or harmful, or which pose an unacceptable conflict of interest to the community are not eligible for CMF funding or grants.
