Geographic Scope: Plumas County, CA; Lake Almanor Basin and Lassen County

Purpose: Raise money for the Almanor Rail Trail, a 12-mile segment of a Trail Master Plan to create a recreation corridor

Focus Areas:

• Trail completion and ongoing maintenance
• Recreation corridor development
• Healthy outdoor recreational opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians

Project Details:

• Rail Trail Route: Begins in Chester and follows the Collins Pine Rail Trail through the Olsen Barn Meadow, across the Causeway, along Lake Almanor, and ending at Clear Creek Junction and Highway 147
• Larger Vision: Create a continuous recreation corridor around the Lake Almanor Basin and east to the Bizz Johnson Trail in Lassen County
• Inspiration: Carlos Espana's dream and legacy of creating outdoor recreational opportunities piece by piece

• Carlos Espana spent thousands of hours moving the rail trail dream forward
• Established a Trails committee to work toward healthy outdoor recreational opportunities
• Dedicated to making the community a better place through trail development
