Caring for Communities Award
Purpose: Recognizes and supports the work of PAs and PA students making a difference in the lives of people struggling with a variety of healthcare and social issues.
Award Structure: Each year, a charity is selected to receive the Caring for Communities Award and an accompanying grant to support its work.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizationProvides needed services to disadvantaged individualsOffers an important educational opportunity and impactful experience to PA students, PAs, and other volunteers

2015: Our World Outreach, Rochester, New York - Health improvement and development for disadvantaged individuals locally, across the United States, and in developing countries; specifically addressing Ebola virus disease crisis in Liberia2014: Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, Boston, Massachusetts - Access to highest quality healthcare for homeless men, women and children in greater Boston area2013: Bread for the City, Washington, DC - Comprehensive services including food, clothing, medical care, legal and social services to vulnerable DC residents; free primary care since 19742012: Second Harvest, Toronto, Ontario - Largest food rescue program in Canada providing fresh food to 18,000+ meals daily through social service agencies2011: Stallman Touro Health Clinic at The Shade Tree, Las Vegas, Nevada - Basic healthcare services for homeless and abused women and children in crisis2010: South Georgia Farmworker Health Project - Free outpatient care to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and families
