Cancer Care Fund

Financial assistance program for therapy animals diagnosed with cancer.

Background: Since 2016, the Pet Partners Cancer Care Fund has provided financial assistance for more than 130 therapy animals diagnosed with cancer.

Geographic Scope: United States (Pet Partners registered therapy animals)

Eligibility Requirements:

• The animal must be a currently registered Pet Partners therapy animal, or a retired Pet Partners therapy animal
• The cancer diagnosis must be after the team was registered with the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program
• The fund is available only for eligible cases in which treatment was received on or after February 1, 2016
• Your veterinarian must be able to provide a histopathology or cytology report to confirm the animal's cancer diagnosis
• Your veterinary clinic must be willing to either refund you or credit your account, as Pet Partners provides direct payment to the veterinary office

What is Funded:

• Diagnostic procedures
• Chemotherapy or other direct forms of treatment
• Alternative cancer-related procedures (e.g., acupuncture)
• End-of-life care and pain mitigation

Application Process

1. Access Application: Application portal is available (login required)
2. Required Documentation:
   • Histopathology or cytology report from veterinarian confirming cancer diagnosis
   • Proof of current or retired Pet Partners therapy animal registration
   • Veterinary clinic information and willingness to accept direct payment
3. Submission: Submit through the online application portal at petpartners.org

Note: Each cancer case is evaluated individually to determine coverage for expenses incurred on or after February 1, 2016.
