Summary
The Campership Grant, offered by the Colburn-Keenan Foundation, aims to support children affected by chronic inherited bleeding disorders by providing up to $500 for camp attendance. This initiative is designed to help families send their children to specialized camps, fostering community and support. Eligible applicants include children under 18 with chronic illnesses and those whose siblings or parents are affected. The program emphasizes the importance of community engagement and aims to alleviate financial burdens for families.Overview
In 2006, Donald Colburn and his beloved wife Kathy Ann Keenan, founded the Colburn-Keenan Foundation (CKF) as a way to carry forward their legacy of community support and charitable giving. The development of the Foundation was the culmination of their dreams and remains a tribute to their life’s work. Through our charitable giving programs, we provide assistance and support to individuals and families, in the United States, who are affected by chronic inherited bleeding disorders. The Foundation also supports community, local and national organizations and institutions in the United States, whose programs serve the needs of those with chronic inherited bleeding disorders. In particular, our mission is to create a perpetual source of grant funding that will support charitable organizations whose programs and activities benefit the chronic inherited bleeding disorders community, assist families with chronic inherited bleeding disorders to meet their socio-economic needs, support research to find a cure for hemophilia, and support students with chronic inherited bleeding disorders through a designated program for scholarships for higher education. Campership Grant Program In line with its mission, the Colburn-Keenan Foundation has developed the campership program to help families send their children to camps that specifically serve children affected by chronic inherited bleeding disorders, the value of which Donald and Kathy Ann were deeply convinced. The Campership Program is open to: the children of individuals who have received financial assistance from the CKF in the pastapplicants who are directly referred to the CKF by an appropriate camp that specifically serves children affected by chronic inherited bleeding disordersapplicants who are directly referred to the CKF by a social worker, case manager, or other appropriate professional source Each child is eligible to apply for up to $500 of campership benefits per year.Eligibility
