Burning Questions Fellowship Awards Grant

The Burning Questions Fellowship Awards, offered by Tiny Beam Fund Inc, support research addressing critical issues in industrial food animal production, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This fellowship encourages applicants nearing completion of their PhD to produce a 8,000–10,000 word Guidance Memo that communicates research findings to non-academic audiences. The initiative aims to foster understanding and action among stakeholders impacted by these issues, ensuring practical applications of the research.

The foundation focuses on illuminating complex global issues through funding research, fellowships, and initiatives that support academic investigation, capacity building, and evidence-based approaches. Tiny Beam Fund values strategic use of its resources and collaborates with academic researchers, advocacy organizations, and philanthropic partners to address multifaceted problems that affect people, animals, and the environment.
The research should address and bring deeper understanding to issues raised in the "burning questions", have practical applications, and include guidance for those interested in taking action. It is possible for recipients to do additional research that provides materials for their own academic work. The main deliverable is a "Guidance Memo". This is a 8,000–10,000 words report written in plain language. Fellowship recipients are required to communicate Guidance Memos and research findings to non-academic audience. It is especially important to reach those persons, organizations, stakeholders most impacted by the issues addressed and/or interested in using the findings  to tackle industrial animal agriculture in LMICs.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD.There are no restrictions as to applicants’ place of residence or citizenship.
