Building Community Together Community Service Projects Grant
Funder: Sandusky County Communities Foundation (SCCF)
Geographic Scope: Sandusky County, Ohio
Program Purpose: BCT is a youth-led initiative that gives out grants for community youth service projects. The program promotes youth leadership and youth/adult partnerships that impact local communities through service projects addressing important issues and building community pride.
- Applicants: Groups of youth and adults (must consist of more than 2 youth) who want to make a difference in their community
- Geographic Focus: Projects must benefit youth, communities throughout Sandusky County, or schools that serve Sandusky County youth, with emphasis on youth service to others
- Sponsorship Requirement: Each group must have a qualified 501(c)(3) sponsor organization (such as a church, school, 4-H club, or community agency) with a federal ID number and an adult advisor
Eligibility
Project Guidelines
1. Youth determine and prepare the application for their service project 2. Youth must present ideas to the youth board and implement the project once approved (adult assistance allowed) 3. Projects must benefit youth or communities in Sandusky County 4. Timeframe: Most projects should be completed in 1-3 months 5. Project costs range up to $1,500 6. Funds may be used for: project operation, transportation, and limited youth recognition 7. BCT may choose to fund only portions of the project depending on needs and available funds 8. A required questionnaire must be completed at project conclusion- Youth/adult wages
- Donations to other fundraisers/organizations
- Out of town trips
- Dinners/Banquets

- Youth and adults feel more connected to their community
- Adults view youth as community resources
- Youth and adults work together in partnership
- Community benefits from projects that accomplish important results
- Community gains outstanding citizens

How to Apply
Application Process
1. Brainstorm about a community problem or need
2. Think about a community service project to address that issue
3. Plan a service project involving youth and adults
4. Apply for grants by submitting application
5. Submit application to Building Community Together address (see contact details)
- Completed application form (all questions must be answered)
- Proof of 501(c)(3) sponsor organization with federal ID number
- Name and contact information for adult advisor
- Project description and goals
- Budget breakdown for requested funds
- Timeline for project completion
Required Materials
- Submission: Applications can be submitted at any time during the year (rolling basis)
- Post-Project: Required questionnaire must be completed upon project completion
