Brownfield/Grayfield Redevelopment Tax Credits Program

Program Purpose:
Offers sites the ability to transform into new or repurposed spaces to revitalize areas, generate revenue, and/or attract new visitors.

Eligible Project Types:

    Brownfield Sites

  • Abandoned, idled, or underutilized industrial or commercial properties
  • Sites where real or perceived environmental contamination prevents productive expansion or redevelopment

    Grayfield Sites

  • Abandoned public buildings, industrial or commercial properties
  • Vacant, blighted, obsolete, or otherwise underutilized sites

Program Goals:

  • Reduce environmental hazards

  • Clean up eyesores

  • Create jobs

  • Boost tax revenue

  • Promote economic health of communities
  • Funding Structure:

  • Annual Cap: $10 million per fiscal year

  • Maximum Award: $1 million per project

  • Tax credits (not direct grants)
