Boomerang Youth Recognition Awards and Scholarships

Overview: BC Cares continues its long tradition of recognizing students in the community with the Boomerang Youth Recognition Awards and Scholarships program. This program is based on The Search Institute's 40 developmental assets—researched-based key indicators for educational success.

Eligibility

• Target: K-12 students in Bucks County, PA
• Open to all students who can be nominated by coaches, parents, school staff, community members, friends, mentors, neighbors, etc.

Recognition Categories

Nominees are honored for demonstrating:
• Integrity
• Cultural Competence
• Personal Power
• Reading for Pleasure
• Bonding to School
• School Engagement

What is Provided

• Winners and Honorees: Acknowledged for achievement and provided citations from PA representatives
• Letters of Recommendation: BC Cares provides letters of recommendation to any Boomerang nominees (past, present, and future)
• Scholarship Eligibility: Any Boomerang nominee is eligible for The Boomerang Scholarship Program when they come of age and pursue continuation of their educational goals

How to Nominate

1. Fill out a nomination form
2. Write a description of why the K-12 student should be honored (200 words or less)
3. Specify the award category (Integrity, Cultural Competence, Personal Power, Reading for Pleasure, Bonding to School, or School Engagement)
4. Nominator information is requested (coaches, parents, school staff, community members, friends, mentors, neighbors, etc. are all eligible to nominate)
