Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship Program

Overview: The Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship program brings representatives from island nations and territories to Hawaii for a rigorous week-long seminar and workshop designed to help islands develop their own plans for a 100% renewable-energy transition.

  • Background: Founded by Henk Rogers, Blue Planet Alliance builds on the success of Hawaii's legislative mandate for 100% renewable energy by 2045 (first U.S. state to do so). More than 20 U.S. states and territories have since adopted similar goals. The Fellowship program was launched in October 2023 and represents the first step in a global movement to end reliance on carbon-based fuels.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Invitation-Based Selection:
    The program is strictly by special invitation only. However, interested island nations and territories can indicate interest.

    To Express Interest:
    1. Fill out the interest form available on the Blue Planet Alliance website
    2. Specify your island nation/territory
    3. Indicate interest in representing your island in a future Fellowship cohort
    4. Someone from the BPA team will be in touch

    Timing: Cohorts are conducted every May and October. Prospective participants should inquire about upcoming cohorts.

    Participant Selection: BPA aims to assemble 8-10 island states and territories per cohort.
