Program Description: The Best Practices in Fire Service Health & Safety Awards program recognizes the health and safety efforts of Virginia fire and rescue departments. The VFCF honors one formally established department within Virginia in each of three categories.

The program recognizes departments in the following categories:

  • Volunteer Departments

  • Career Departments

  • Combination Departments
  • Award Details

    Award Components:

  • Recognition award presented at the Annual Virginia Fire & Rescue Conference

  • $500 contribution to each award-winning department
  • Application Period: September 1 – December 1 (annually)

    Eligibility

    • Must be a formally established fire and rescue department in Virginia
    • One department per category will be honored each year

    Application Instructions:

    1. Complete the online VFCF Best Practices application form
    2. Gather all required department and nominator information
    3. Prepare comprehensive supporting documentation addressing all required elements
    4. Upload supporting documents (max 250 MB)
    5. Submit by December 1 deadline
    6. VFCF Health and Safety Committee reviews applications
    7. Award winners notified before Annual Virginia Fire & Rescue Conference
