Bertin Family Foundation Grants

The Bertin Family Foundation Grants support 501(c)(3) public charities that align with the foundation's mission of community strengthening and compassion. Grant requests are accepted annually from July 1 to August 31, focusing on program or project support rather than general endowment. The foundation values measurable outcomes and responsible stewardship, and gives preference to organizations with Gold or Platinum status on Candid.

NOTE: All grant requests must be submitted as a pdf  via email between July 1 and August 31 each year.

Founders: Kim and Jennifer BertinAfter a successful career innovating orthopedic surgical techniques, devices, and implants, Kim and his wife Jennifer feel a deep sense of stewardship to dedicate their resources to helping others. They engage all three generations of the Bertin family in hands-on service and grantmaking decisions, fostering a shared commitment to giving back. Eligibility

Organizational StatusOrganization is recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the IRS.Organization is in good standing with the IRS and state regulatory agencies.Organization has been in operation for at least one full fiscal year.Annual financial statements or Form 990 are available for review.  Mission AlignmentOrganization’s mission and programs align with a Foundation focus areas.Proposed project or program advances the Foundation’s values.Organization demonstrates a commitment to measurable outcomes and responsible stewardship of funds.Project and Funding ScopeRequest is for program, project, or capacity-building support (not general endowment or debt reduction).Grant request amount is within the Foundation’s typical funding range.Project has a clear plan, timeline, and budget demonstrating feasibility.Organization can provide progress and final reports if awarded funding.Governance and LeadershipOrganization has an active board of directors providing oversight and fiduciary responsibility.Board members serve without compensation.Leadership and staff reflect ethical standards, transparency, and accountability.

Ineligibility

No political campaigns or lobbying activities.No grants to individuals or for-profit entities.
