Basu Innovation Scholar Grant

The Basu Innovation Scholar Grant offers travel support of up to $2,000 for early-career scientists and recent Ph.D. graduates to attend AGU's annual meeting. This initiative, funded by Sunanda Basu, aims to foster innovation in space physics and aeronomy by enabling recipients to network with established scientists and participate in significant events like the William B. Hanson Lecture. It is an excellent opportunity for those without an expansive professional network.

Expanding the Networks of Early Career Scientists and PhD Graduates
The Basu Innovation Scholar Grant, provided through the generosity of Sunanda Basu, provides travel support to an an early-career scientist/recent Ph.D. graduate to attend AGU's annual meeting. Candidates must be making an impact in the area of space physics and aeronomy through innovative approaches to observation and interpretation.
This grant is awarded as part of AGU's Annual Meeting and complements the William B. Hanson Lecture. By participating in the Annual Meeting, the Hanson Lecture presentation, and the SPA reception, recipients get the opportunity to network with the Hanson Lecturer and other established scientists in the AGU Community outside of their existing network.
Recipients receive the following:
Up to $2,000 in financial support to participate in AGU's annual meeting, either in-person or virtually. Reimbursable expenses for virtual participation include purchasing or renting technology, transportation or housing needed to access technology, dependent care costs, unpaid leave/lost wages, meeting registration, etc.
