AWWA AL/MS Section Academic Scholarship

Geographic Scope: Alabama and Mississippi

Funder: Alabama/Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association

Overview: Scholarships for individuals interested in pursuing careers in the water works industry in Alabama and Mississippi. The program offers three distinct scholarship categories:

Scholarship Categories

  • Advanced Licensure or Training: For individuals pursuing advanced licensure or training in the water works (science) field. Must be sponsored by a Water Utility or an Individual Member of the AL/MS Section of AWWA.
  • Undergraduate Degree: For individuals pursuing an undergraduate degree in the water works (science) field. Must be sponsored by an Individual Member of the AL/MS Section of AWWA.
  • Graduate Degree: For individuals pursuing a graduate degree in the water works (science) field. Must be sponsored by an Individual Member of the AL/MS Section of AWWA.

Eligibility

  • An individual may be awarded a scholarship only once for each category (Advanced Licensure/Training, Undergraduate Degree, or Graduate Degree)
  • Must be sponsored by either a Water Utility (for advanced licensure/training) or an Individual Member of the AL/MS Section of AWWA (for all categories)

Required Submission Materials

All applicants must complete and submit the following in a single packet:

1. AWWA Scholarship Packet_2026 (Application Form) - available for download
2. Resume - must include educational, licensure, and experience information
3. Personal Statement
4. Two (2) Letters of Support or Recommendation - preferably from the sponsoring utility, individual member, or academic advisor
5. For Academic Applicants Only: Transcripts of education and proof of student status
