About the Talía Awards: The Talía Awards are the highest honor awarding excellence in the Performing Arts in Spanish, presented by the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain (AAEE). The full awards program has 34 categories.

Selection Committee Leadership: The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute leads the Selection Committee for this New York-specific award category.

Committee Composition: Comprised of journalists, professors, and practitioners within the field of performing arts who evaluate submissions. Supported by three honorary members:

  • Gives visibility to current Hispanic theatrical productions in New York

  • Recent Winner (2023): "Life Lessons" / "Lecciones de vida" - A bilingual dramedy by Eduardo Galán, produced by Thalia Spanish Theater. The Selection Committee chose this piece for the tremendous effort in producing two different casts (one in English and one in Spanish) and for the universality of its themes.
