Overview

Western History Association The Western History Association strives to be a congenial home for the study and teaching of all aspects of North American Wests, frontiers, homelands, and borderlands. Our mission is to cultivate the broadest appreciation of this diverse history. To accomplish this mission we: Enable collaborations among peoples, institutions, and organizations devoted to the study of western history. Conduct an annual conference at which western history teachers, scholars, and professionals share their research and exchange ideas that facilitate further study of the North American West. Publish an award-winning journal that employs rigorous peer reviews to identify, improve, and distribute original western history scholarship.Promote public education on western history through active involvement with teachers, museums, non profit organizations, libraries, and other venues. Eligibility

Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Media such as web pages, web-based video, audio, blogs, documentaries, and filmsPublic Programs such as lecture series, walking tours, oral history projects, outreach activity, educational offerings, workshops, etc.Written Works such as research, reports, brochures, working papers, etc., or historical fiction (including books), that contribute to larger public history efforts to broaden public history understanding.Exhibits in museums, cultural centers, historic sites, and other public venues

Please note that academic non-fiction books and journal articles are not eligible for this award.
