AUGS Foundation Fellow Research Grants

Overview: Research grants designed to invest in the start of promising academic careers of talented young physicians investigating female pelvic floor disorders.

    Award Types

  • 1-year awards: Single payment upon agreement signing
  • 2-year awards: Two equal installments (upon signing and within 60 days after 1-year interim progress report approval)

Eligibility Requirements

#### All Applicants Must

  • Be an active AUGS member in one of the Regular membership categories: Fellow, Physician, Affiliate, or International

  • Have a senior research mentor or mentoring team (mentors need not be AUGS members)

  • Submit only one application per cycle

  • Ensure funded grants remain at same institution for research period, with PI remaining primarily involved

  • For applicants with tenure shorter than grant horizon: clearly describe plan for managing final months, including transition of day-to-day management and results analysis
  • #### Fellow Applicants Must

  • Have a graduate degree and be in current post-degree training program, OR

  • Be MD/DO who completed general Ob/Gyn or Urology residency and currently in accredited or non-accredited Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship, OR

  • Be MD/DO in final year of Ob/Gyn or Urology residency with acceptance to accredited or non-accredited Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship (must provide evidence of fellowship support), OR

  • Be PhD currently in post-doc fellowship program
  • Not Eligible:

  • Prior recipients of AUGS Foundation Grant are not eligible for 2-year fellow grants
  • #### Junior Faculty Applicants Must

  • Be one of the following:

  • - MD/DO (±/− PhD) with faculty appointment at Instructor or Assistant Professor level (or within 5 years of completion of training)
    - MD/DO (±/− PhD) practicing clinician within 5 years of fellowship/postgraduate training, actively involved in research
    - PhD with Assistant Professor faculty appointment
  • Have institutional support for time necessary to perform PI responsibilities
  • Not Eligible:

  • Associate Professor or Professor level

  • > 5 years after completion of all postgraduate training

  • Prior recipients of 2-year faculty AUGS Foundation grant

  • Prior recipients of AUGS Foundation Grant awarded during fellowship (ineligible for 2-year faculty grants for two years from completion date)
    • Selection Criteria

    • Quality and significance of proposed research project
    • Scholarly, clinical and research qualifications of candidate and mentoring team
    • Well-described plan for academic career development and acquisition of future funding
    • Accuracy and completeness of application

      Awardee Obligations

    • May be asked to present progress report at AUGS Foundation Luncheons
    • Expected to submit abstract of research results to AUGS Annual Scientific Meeting within 1-2 years of award completion
    • 1-year award winners: Submit final report within one year of receiving funding
    • 2-year award winners: Submit 1-year interim progress report within one year and final report within two years
