What is Corporate Social Responsibility?
Giving back is in our DNA. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is influenced by employee values. Athene's commitment to community involvement has consistently been the highest rated category in our employee engagement survey and we are proud to align this passion with our business objectives.
Athene CSR encompasses community sponsorships, donations and partnerships from the Athene Charitable Foundation with an emphasis on employee volunteering and donation efforts.

Athene Charitable Foundation
Athene Charitable Foundation is committed to corporate and social responsibility practices giving back to the communities where Athene employees live and work through volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and community outreach. The Foundation’s philanthropic efforts are focused on four pillars:
* Education - Improves learning experience
* Human Services - Provides resources for the underserved
* Health and Well-being - Bolsters healthier lifestyles
* Environmental Sustainable - Advances positive environmental change

* Requirements to be eligible for donations. The asking organization must:
* Be a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization or the foreign public charity equivalent as well as government instrumentalities (for charitable purposes)
* Be registered with the Secretary of State’s office in the state where the organization is located
* Be based in and serve communities where Athene employees live and work
* Have goals, efforts or activities that are aligned with one of Athene’s pillars – Education, Human Services, Health &Wellness, Environmental Sustainability
* Have a mission and values that align with the Foundation’s and Athene’s missions and values, including supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion
* Agree to provide a post-event success report (what was achieved with the Foundation’s donation).
Ineligibility
* Ineligible organizations:
Religious organizations and entities that promote or discourage the observance or proselytization of religious beliefs\.
* Labor groups, political candidates, organizations, campaigns, causes or activities.
* Fraternal organizations or social clubs.
* Private foundations or organizations that promote a hobby.
* School or alumni sports booster organizations; however, 501(c)(3) organizations for recreational youth athletic programs will be considered.
* Municipalities or trade organizations.
* Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, political affiliation, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.
* Organizations that the Foundation, in its sole discretion, considers controversial, non-compliant with the Foundation’s non-discrimination policy, or otherwise incompatible with the Foundation’s mission.
_\*Donation and/or sponsorship requests for religious organizations (churches, conventions and associations of churches, integrated auxiliaries of churches, nondenominational ministries, interdenominational and ecumenical organizations, houses of worship, denominational headquarters or organizations whose main purpose is to study or advance religious or sectarian beliefs) will not be considered. However, a service arm or program of some 501(c)(3) religious organizations such as Catholic Charities, Lutheran Family Services and the Salvation Army will be considered for a grant from the Foundation provided the program is: (i) available and open to all individuals in the community, (ii) for non-religious purposes (such as a food pantry or domestic abuse shelter) and (iii) the organization does not use the program to promote any religion._
