Overview

NOTE: To be considered for the Book Prize, a book must be nominated by two members of the APA other than the author. A member may nominate only one book. Nominations need only identify the author, title, publisher, and publication date. Book Prize The Book Prize is awarded in odd years for the best published book that was written by a younger scholar during the previous two years. The Book and Article Prizes replace the former Franklin J. Matchette Foundation Book Prize. Funding The winner of the award will receive $4,000 and be presented with the prize check during the annual prize reception at an APA divisional meeting.

Eligibility

The author must be a "younger scholar," meaning that the author:was 40 years of age or younger in the year the book was published, orreceived their Ph.D. 10 or fewer years before the year in which the book was published. The nominee must be a member of the APA. All authors of co-authored works must meet the eligibility requirements. The APA will contact nominated authors for assurances of eligibility and to secure copies of the nominated book.Books published in the prior two years are eligible.
