Target Population:

• Individuals living with spinal cord injuries and paralysis
• Recently injured individuals who are in early stages of recovery
• Those facing life-altering traumatic injuries

Program Background:

• Made possible through partnership with NHL legend Zdeno Chara
• Honors Zdeno Chara's legacy as a leader and community advocate
• Provides critical support to individuals and families living with SCI and paralysis

Purpose:

• Help ensure individuals and families can focus on recovery, independence, and building a life without limits
• Core pillars: recovery, independence, and redefining what's possible for those living with paralysis
• Support home modifications and healthcare equipment needs

Application Process:

• TESF reaches out to individuals and families shortly after spinal cord injury
• Foundation works directly with recipients and families to coordinate support
• Assistance includes:
  • Meeting with contractors to discuss home redesign
  • Coordinating home modifications
  • Identifying and purchasing essential healthcare equipment
  • Facilitating transition to outpatient care
  • Providing guidance on balancing professional and recovery responsibilities
