Overview

The Angelica G. Muns Nursing Scholarship Fund provides financial support to nursing students pursuing certified nursing degrees. Named after Angelica G. Muns, a United States Air Force Lt. Colonel and registered nurse who served during World War II, this scholarship was established to ensure that individuals wanting to excel in nursing have the opportunity to obtain a nursing degree.

Award Details

• Standard Award: $2,000 per semester
• Therese V. McPherson Scholarship (Enhanced Award): $2,500-$3,000 for nursing students in "bridge" programs toward advanced nursing degrees
• Award Frequency: Fall and Spring semesters (semi-annual)

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a certified nursing program in Marion County
• Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout schooling
• Post-graduation requirement: Recipients must continue their career in an acute healthcare facility for up to an additional two years

Therese V. McPherson Scholarship (Special Track)

• Established by Dr. Lon McPherson, former Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Munroe Regional Medical Center (now AdventHealth Ocala)
• Honors his wife, Therese McPherson
• Available to nursing students pursuing "bridge" programs toward advanced nursing degrees
• Award: $2,500-$3,000

Background

Mrs. Muns and her husband both received excellent healthcare in Ocala/Marion County. In recognition of the exceptional care they received, they established this scholarship to support future nursing professionals.
