AMS Student Research Fellowships Grant

The AMS Student Research Fellowships, offered by the American Microscopical Society, provide summer funding for research projects utilizing microscopy. Eligible applicants include undergraduate and graduate student members of AMS, excluding past recipients. Funds can support various research-related expenses, such as supplies, equipment usage, and field site travel. However, costs related to travel for meetings and publication are not covered. This initiative encourages the advancement of microscopy in biological studies.

The American Microscopical Society is an international society of biologists organized to encourage the use of microscopy. Its members are mostly scientists and educators who use various kinds of microscopes in their research and teaching – light and electron microscopes, fluorescence and confocal microscopes, and other tools for visualizing the small. It publishes reports of research on invertebrate biology (in its journal Invertebrate Biology), conducts annual meetings on research using microscopy, and organizes workshops on techniques of microscopy and on biology of organisms studied by microscopy.
The AMS Student Research Fellowship funds are designated for summer support of research projects involving microscopy.

Eligibility

The funds may be used for summer support of any research project involving microscopy.Any undergraduate or graduate student member of AMS is eligible to apply, with the exception of past fellowship recipients. Funds can be used for supplies, use of equipment, and travel to field sites.
