Overview

The South Carolina Commission on National and Community Service (AmeriCorps SC), housed at the United Way Association of South Carolina, is accepting proposals for its 2027-28 "State Competitive" AmeriCorps funding. Subgrants support local AmeriCorps State programs operating exclusively within South Carolina, for projects running July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2028.

AmeriCorps SC subgrant awards typically range from $100,000 to $500,000. Funds can cover staff who administer the program or manage AmeriCorps members, operating costs such as recruitment, travel, training, supplies, gear and background checks, and member living allowances, health insurance, FICA and workers compensation. Organizations in their first three years of funding must provide a combined cash and in-kind match of at least 24% of total project cost.

Focus areas are Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, Environmental Stewardship, Disaster Services, and Veterans and Military Families. Eligible applicants include faith-based institutions, Indian tribes and tribal organizations, labor organizations, nonprofits, partnerships and consortia, schools, school districts and colleges, and state and local government agencies.

How to Apply

The Notice of Intent to Apply form and the full application are both due Friday, October 30, 2026. The Notice of Funding Opportunity is linked from the AmeriCorps SC Funding Opportunities page.
