Overview

America's Awesome Kids

Overview: An initiative by Vegas PBS launching in 2026 to capture and showcase kids (ages 8-10) and their unique geographies, customs, interests, skills, and experiences in preparation for America's 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial).

Geographic Scope: United States (national initiative)

Focus Areas:

  • Children's interests, hobbies, and talents

  • Culture and traditions

  • Family and community

  • Local landmarks and natural environment

    • Eligibility:

  • Ages 8-10 years old

  • Open to children across the country

    • Award/Opportunity:

  • Selected participants will have a production team visit their hometown to film them

  • Featured on PBS KIDS in Summer 2026

  • Opportunity to be showcased alongside other kids from across the country

    Application Process

    How to Apply:
    1. Create a short video (2-3 minutes) showcasing what's awesome about your interests, hobbies, talents, culture, traditions, family, community, local landmarks, natural environment, and anything else you'd like to share
    2. Fill out the release form
    3. Submit your video and release form

    Submission Method:

  • If you have a Gmail account: Use the online application link (click provided on website)

  • If you do not have a Gmail account or cannot access the link:

    • - Film a 2-3 minute video
    - Complete the release form
    - Email video and release form to Natalie Cullen at ncullen@vegaspbs.org
