Alumni Achievement Awards

Geographic Scope: University of North Texas alumni worldwide

Overview:
A long-standing university tradition, the Alumni Achievement Awards recognize the best in the alumni body. Throughout their careers, honorees have contributed significantly to their companies, communities and the university while upholding the highest standards and values. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis with the current cycle deadline of April 15. The Awards celebration is held during the week of UNT Homecoming.

Award Categories

#### Distinguished Alumni Award
Description: First presented in 1965, this is the most prestigious award given by the UNT Alumni Association. It recognizes alumni for distinguished achievement that has merited the honor and praise of peers and colleagues. Honorees have been ardent supporters of UNT through gifts of their time, talent and treasure, and have made noteworthy contributions to society, reflecting positively on the University of North Texas.

Eligibility: Only UNT alumni are eligible. Current faculty/staff of UNT are not eligible.

#### Rising Star Award
Description: Created in 2011 in the image of the Distinguished Alumni Award, this award recognizes recent graduates for distinguished achievement that has merited the honor and praise of peers and colleagues. Honorees have been ardent supporters of UNT through gifts of their time, talent and treasure, and have made noteworthy contributions to society, reflecting positively on the University of North Texas.

Eligibility: Only UNT alumni who graduated within the past 15 years (at the time of award selection) are eligible. Current faculty/staff of UNT are not eligible.

#### Outstanding Alumni Service Award
Description: First presented in 1974, this award honors individuals who have provided outstanding service to the university as well as their community.

Eligibility: Any alumni, advocates or friends of UNT are eligible. Current faculty/staff of UNT are not eligible.

#### Ulys Knight Spirit Award
Description: Presented since 1975, this award is named for an alumnus and is given to an individual or group that has made noteworthy efforts to show exceptional UNT spirit.

Eligibility: Any alumni, advocates or friends of UNT are eligible. Current faculty/staff of UNT are not eligible.

Selection Process

All nominations that are not selected will be automatically reconsidered for the next two Awards selection cycles. It will not be necessary to re-submit; however, nominators may submit additional letters or support documentation by contacting the UNT Alumni Association.

Definition

For the purpose of the UNT Alumni Achievement Awards program, the term "Alumni" refers to degree-holding graduates of the University of North Texas.
