Overview

The ALS Network (a member of ALS United, formerly ALS Golden West California) directly funds promising ALS research - basic, translational, and causal - through an annual letter-of-intent (LOI) program. Projects should be bold and innovative, solving critical problems in ALS using novel technology or methods. Up to $150,000 (including up to 15% indirect costs) may be awarded per project, with a possible second year after a one-year review. Eligible applicants may represent university, non-profit, or for-profit entities; only U.S.-based applicants are accepted.

Two stages: submit a Letter of Intent, then full proposals by invitation. 2026 cycle key dates: LOI open Mar 16, 2026; LOI close Apr 20, 2026 (now closed); full-proposal invitations May 22, 2026; RFP close Jun 30, 2026; Fast Pitch Sept-Oct 2026; award decision Nov 2, 2026.
