Status: Active scholarship program

Award: Three scholarships of $2,000 each granted annually. Each scholarship is renewable for up to four years (total of $8,000) provided the recipient maintains academic eligibility and remains enrolled in a four-year degree-granting college or university.

Geographic Scope: Northern Virginia only

Must be a graduating senior from a high school in: Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas, or Manassas Park; OR counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudon, or Prince William in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Applicant must be a resident of the eligible Virginia area (Maryland and District of Columbia residents attending high school in Northern Virginia are NOT eligible)

Eligibility Requirements

• High School Status: Graduating senior from a public high school in eligible locations
• Gender: Senior male graduating high school seniors only
• Academic Qualifications: Unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale (must be documented on official transcript)
• College Acceptance: Must have obtained acceptance to a four-year college or university for the upcoming academic school year
• Character Qualification: Demonstrates high moral character and can provide evidence of participation in school activities and community involvement (e.g., community involvement, student government, honors society, sports, clubs, church, or volunteer work)
• Financial Need: Must be able to demonstrate financial hardship/need

Ineligibility

• Children or relatives of members of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated are NOT eligible
• Non-Virginia residents (except those attending high school in Northern Virginia are still ineligible)
• Note: Having a relative previously awarded a scholarship does NOT disqualify applicants

About the Organization:
The Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni Chapter Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund was incorporated March 2, 1990. KSEF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to deserving students through scholarships and other types of financial aid who might find it difficult to attend college otherwise.
