NOTE: A Notice of Interest will need to be submitted to DHS&EM prior to filling out an application. Once the NOI is recieved back by the State, the State will determine Sub-Appliant eligibility and eligibility of project, then send the appropriate project application and additional required documents as well as an instruction on how to fill out the application. Please take note of the varying deadlines pertaining to specific topics: 2024 Wrangell LandslideCommunity Submission Application deadline to State: May 5, 20252024 Alaska FloodingCommunity Submission Application deadline to State: October 15, 20252024 Alaska LandslideCommunity Submission Application deadline to State: November 15, 20252024 Severe Storm & FloodingCommunity Submission Application deadline to State: February 15, 2026 Hazard Mitigation Assistance The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) programs support mitigation activities that reduce or eliminate potential losses to state, local, tribal and territorial governments, fostering resilience against the past and future effects of disasters and damages including the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), HMGP Post Fire, and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). HMA programs that provide funding for hazard mitigation activities including mitigation projects and capability- and capacity-building. Hazard Mitigation Grant Program HMGP ensures that state, local, tribal and territorial governments have the financial opportunity to plan for and implement mitigation measures that reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future natural disasters during the reconstruction process following a disaster. HMGP funding is available when authorized through a major disaster declaration. All applicants and subapplicants must have a FEMA-approved mitigation plan that has been adopted by the jurisdiction and applicable mitigation planning policies to receive HMGP funding.Eligibility
