About Us The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) was founded in 1963, and is the only national organization representing and promoting the political, ethical, and professional interests of geologists. AIPG currently has more than 5,000 members, and is organized into Regional Sections. AIPG remains dedicated to communicating to the public and to it's representatives the importance to society of the profession of geology. The Institute promotes ethical conduct and seeks to protect the public and the geological sciences from unprofessional practice. The Institute adheres to the principles of professional responsibility and public service and is the only international organization that certifies the competence and ethical conduct of geological scientists in all branches of the science with members employed in industry, government, and academia. AIPG Purposes The advancement of the geological sciences and the profession of geology; The establishment of qualifications for professional geologists; The certification of the qualifications of individual Member geologists to the public; The promotion of high standards of ethical conduct among its Members, Affiliates, and within the profession of geology. AIPG MN Undergraduate Student Grant The Minnesota Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG MN) will be awarding at least two student grants this academic year, up to $1,500 each in value. Undergraduate geosciences students in their junior or senior year of a Minnesota college or university may apply. Student grants will be awarded within two separate categories of applicants: students with a current cumulative GPA between 2.0 - 3.4, and students with a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 or higher.

Student Grant Requirements: Student grant applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a Minnesota college or university geoscience program and have a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.Student grant applicant must be Student Member of AIPG. Membership for students is FREE. Become a member by filling out the application on the AIPG National website: https://aipg.org/page/MembershipApps. Please allow one week lead time or more for your Student Member application to be processed and for a Student Member number to be assigned to you.If selected for the next round of consideration, peer and faculty references will be promptly requested from the student grant applicant semi-finalists.The Student Grant Review Committee will reach out to the peer and faculty references provided by the student grant applicant semi-finalists and the committee will request that the references provide a short recommendation for the student via an AIPG MN website survey link.Student grant applicant must not have been previously awarded an AIPG MN student grant in the amount of $1,000 or more. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member.
