United Negro College Fund “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”® For more than seven decades, this principle has remained at the heart of UNCF, enabling us to raise more than $5 billion and help more than 500,000 students and counting not just attend college, but thrive, graduate and become leaders. We do this in three ways: By awarding more than 12,000 students scholarships, worth more than $65 million, each year. By providing financial support to 37 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). And by serving as the nation’s leading advocate for the importance of minority education and community engagement. Aging Services Leadership Fellowship This one- year non-clinical fellowship program is designed for recent graduates of a master’s degree program (or at least completed the coursework) or mid-career professionals with five or more years’ experience in their chosen work area. Program Model: The cohort learning model will provide a community for the new leaders in aging services, create a shared learning experience during the year-long program, and support the development of future professional relationships and career success. Fellows Training and Supports. Fellows will participate in networking and educational events and coaching sessions to include: An aging services curriculum created by the UMBC Erickson School of Aging Studies to familiarize and educate the fellows with the field of aging services and policy issues affecting the field, as well as help enhance their leadership skills Fellows along with the preceptors will participate in a cultural humility/social justice workshop focused on how to create a culture of belonging, the roles of allies and sponsors, and “change-agent” strategies to make positive and equitable changes in the workplace Fellows will be matched with a mentor who can guide them during the fellowship. The Fellows will also have access to coaches to support and facilitate their transition into aging services.Eligibility
