Award Amount: $30,000 total awarded annually across multiple scholarships

Program Background: Established in 2018 in close collaboration with community members. Since inception, the program has awarded nearly $300,000 in scholarship funds. This is the eighth annual scholarship program as of 2025.

Support for undergraduate, graduate, and vocational students

Commitment to betterment of the Afghan-American community

Engagement in aid work within the community

Empowerment of the next generation and diaspora development

Mission Statement: AACO believes developing a strong scholarship program is one of the most powerful ways to support, empower, and engage the next generation – to continue to build the legacy as a diaspora. Scholarships level the playing field by removing the financial burden of education.

Program Components:

Afghan-American Community Organization Scholarship

Awarded to students who are engaged and committed to empowering the Afghan-American community and demonstrate financial need.

Sophia and Sabrina Scholarship

Created in honor of the founders of the AACO Scholarship program. Specifically designed to inspire and recognize Afghan women with aspirations to give back to the community. Honors their investment in the diaspora, youth, and the power of education.

Must be part of or committed to Afghan-American community
