Adoption Prep Grants

PetSmart Charities' Adoption Prep Grants aim to support organizations that facilitate the adoption of homeless pets through in-store programs. Eligible partners must demonstrate a commitment to increasing adoptions, with grants reaching up to $75,000 in the U.S. and $40,000 in Canada. The funding can be utilized for vaccinations, spay/neuter services, staffing, and volunteer support. This initiative focuses on building sustainable adoption programs that break down barriers to pet adoption.

Adoption Prep grants are designed to support PetSmart Charities Adoption Partners’ efforts to help homeless animals find homes via PetSmart Charities' in-store adoption program.
The maximum grant given in the U.S. in this category will be $75,000 and $40,000 in Canada.
Funding may support:

Eligibility

Cohort 1: Accelerating In-Store AdoptionsTo be eligible to apply, Adoption Partners must have completed 500 adoptions in a PetSmart store in the U.S. (or 100 in Canada) over the last 12 months, and be in compliance with all PetSmart Charities policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.Preference will be given to groups who are interested in expanding their in-store programs or who are interested in trying new in-store adoption models to increase adoptions.Cohort 2: Capacity BuildingTo be eligible to apply, Adoption Partners must have completed one (1) adoption in a PetSmart store over the last 12 months, and be in compliance with all PetSmart Charities policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.Preference will be given to groups looking to build a consistent in-store adoption program.The maximum grant given in the U.S. in this category will be $75,000, and in Canada the maximum is set at $40,000. PetSmart Charities Adoption Prep grants will not support the purchase of vehicles.
