Overview

ACS and EAST Health Policy Scholarship EAST and the American College of Surgeons are pleased to announce a shared scholarship open to members in good standing of EAST and the American College of Surgeons.  This scholarship supports attendance and participation in the "Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management," held annually in June at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2025 program will be held June 2-7, 2025. Considering the necessary eligibility requirements are met, surgeons can apply for more than one award from a co-sponsoring organization. Only one award per year for any applicant will be awarded. Award Obligations This award covers the cost of tuition, and the scholar will also receive travel assistance as well as housing and subsistence during the course. Indirect costs are not paid to the recipient or to the recipient's institution. The scholarship must be used in the year for which it is designated. It cannot be postponed. The Scholar is required to provide one year's health policy-related assistance to the ACS and co-sponsoring organization of which they applied, including attendance at a health policy meeting in Washington, DC. EAST asks the Scholar for his/her support in reviewing applications for the next year's Brandeis scholarship program. The College anticipates that program alumni will serve as state councilors for the SurgeonsVoice Program, its grassroots initiative aimed at establishing relationships with members of Congress. A brief report of the Scholar's experiences and activities is due at the conclusion of the course and of the scholarship period. Simple accounting of expenses is also required.
